Programmed to Succeed

Even the best talent needs support and guidance. That is why BMW doesn't just offer gifted young go-kart drivers a seat in a Formula racing car - it promotes the most promising candidates as Formula BMW Americas Juniors.

The concept behind the Formula BMW Americas Junior program is to nurture young drivers towards a racing career by training them to the highest possible levels, drawing on the vast expertise and experience of BMW Motorsport. Underlining BMW's commitment to the discovery and grooming of future young talent, the scholarship "shoot-out" has been designed so that the most talented drivers, rather than the most financially healthy, succeed.

BMW of North America awards scholarships, worth US$80,000 each, to drivers who have been scouted from the karting ranks and successfully completed an intense phase of evaluations and tests. Known as the Formula BMW Americas Juniors, these drivers receive a level of financial support in addition to the Education and Coaching Program at no cost, giving them the best possible start on their careers. In order to differentiate the scholarship recipients from all other series entries, the Juniors will race in the distinctive BMW Motorsport livery.

The Education and Coaching Program is not restricted to the Formula BMW Junior drivers only, but is available to other drivers as well. The aim is to back motor racing at the grass-roots level by offering drivers the comprehensive training they need to succeed.
