Education & Coaching ProgramAll promoted Junior drivers will attend the Advanced Training courses throughout the season. Other drivers in the series may also attend any of the courses should they so desire for a nominal fee. Special emphasis is placed on physical fitness; the young hopefuls experience and benefit from the rigors of physical performance training and testing. The candidates are in contact with the trainers throughout the season to track their results. Thus, their fitness development is monitored and re-adjusted throughout the entire season. Personal training schedules are drawn up for the participants, facilitating the adoption of a healthy diet and maintaining the fitness levels expected of a racing driver. “Together with PitFit (the leading motorsports trainer in the US) we developed a personal training program for young race drivers," says Formula BMW USA Manager Alexander Schmuck. "They also learn how to adopt a healthy diet and keep themselves fit - a vital prerequisite in all forms of motorsport.Drivers are also prepared for interaction with the press through a thorough media training program which exposes them to dealing with the press and getting their message across in a professional manner. Likewise, specific motorsport expressions and wordings are taught during the season. Technical courses in understanding the intricacies of car accessories set-up and driving technique analysis are also held. Engineers of BMW Motorsport and technical partners help the drivers to learn about mechanical and aerodynamic set-up. This thorough framework gives young drivers the skill to converse with and get answers from professionals. There are also lessons in engineering, economics and sports management that will prove invaluable as the drivers progress through their careers.
